In many parts of the common media and pop culture, steroids are jokes. An example is resting to the left of this paragraph. Featured in the spoof of the Got Milk? ad, is the infamous MLB player Mark McGwire. He was caught abusing. By not demonstrating steroids as serious hazards, we are involuntarily saying that their use isn't destructive. This attitude can be greatly detrimental, as it may influence the adolescents of our society to support the drugs.
As a moral answer to the question of steroids or no steroids, most would be obligated to say no. An educated individual would likely find the side effects overwhelming and an unnecessary stressor. Only an athlete stretching to extreme levels, would brush aside these threats to their social life and health.
However steroids, if proven safer, could provide great strides for our society. Similarly to genetically altered humans, the pros include stronger and larger individuals. Such physical characteristics can lend themselves useful for certain occupations (Navy Seals, firefighters, police men, and any federal appointed adults.) However, the drugs would need to be restricted to these highly physically demanding jobs. Anabolic steroid use transferring to sports or commercial production would be idiodic. If all people are higher performing athletes thanks to steroids, no one has actually gained an advantage; and athletes pushing to use more and more, no matter the safety of the drugs, is unhealthful and potentially lethal. We created sports as a pastime and it has evolved into a test of will, strength, and skill. It would be unethical to involve them in the games. These challenges pit man against man, adding chemicals to the equation forces it defective.
