Steroids are one of the most controversial topics in modern societies. Following thorough deliberation, the general covenant is that steroids have more negative than positive effects. When asking most people about steroids, their automatic response is usually that steroids are bad. In most cases this is usually true, however, few people recognize the positive uses of steroids. Most people keep a narrow mind towards steroids. They are only told the bad of steroids which is usually all they need to know.
The general positive effects of steroids are pretty well known. They increase muscle mass, tissue repair, endurance, and fat loss. These effects can be viewed as both positive and negative. Athletes and civilians that abuse steroids view these effects as positive, as they enable them to perform tasks that they would otherwise be unable to do, such as increased endurance during sports and increased strength. However, these effects are viewed as negative by the larger portion of society. Athletes with increased physical abilities are viewed as cheating.People who abuse steroids have an unfair advantage over others who play fairly. Beyond the controversial positive effects of steroids, steroids have many effects that can be viewed as positive. Steroids can improve bone density largely benefiting those with conditions that cause brittle bone structure such as osteoporosis. Other medical diseases that steroids can help treat include blood disorders, arthritis, AIDS and some types of cancer. Steroids even allow people to recover from injuries faster. Physical trait wise, steroids can be used for an increase masculine traits, benefiting those feeling overly feminine.
Despite all these positive benefits, steroids are continued to be viewed as malicious. Simply, because the negatives outweigh the positives. Steroids can cause grotesque physical changes and can cause physical and mental impairment. However, the biggest reason is that abusing steroids is simply cheating. In today's society, one must work hard to keep up. Some people simply just can't keep up so they result to other methods such as steroids. But in a society where multiple people abuse steroids as they say "when everyone is super, nobody is". Jonathon Vaughters, a notable cyclist chose to use steroids in order to live his childhood dream. To this day, he regrets his decision. In the world of mathematics, sporting would be considered a finely balanced occasion. With the addition of another variable such as steroids, the equation fails.
